Renewable Energy Workshops Inspire Argyll and Bute Students
Since September, the STEM Education Team has been delivering workshops to S1 students at Rothesay, Dunoon, Lochgilhead, Tarbert and Campbeltown schools. More than 200 students have taken part so far, exploring how water, wind and sunlight can generate electricity and the factors that affect energy production.
Students also discovered the wide range of STEM careers within Argyll and Bute’s renewable energy sector, from ecologists to mechanical engineers. They put their decision-making skills to the test by considering the benefits and challenges of renewable energy production. School staff praised their engagement, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the workshops.
Thank you to Scottish Power Renewables and The Drax Foundation for their continued support, and to the schools for welcoming us back for a third consecutive year. We hope to return next year!
