TARP (Taking Action on Rural Poverty: Test of Change)

ALIenergy and Poverty Alliance Collaboration

Building on ALIenergy’s recent engagement with the Scottish Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel, the organisation has gained valuable insights into the barriers faced by those experiencing fuel poverty in Scotland. This collaboration has deepened ALIenergy’s understanding of policy gaps and practical challenges, particularly for households on low incomes and in rural communities. Lessons learned from this work are now actively shaping a new partnership with the Poverty Alliance, ensuring that tailored support and resources are delivered to those who need them most

At ALIenergy, we are proud to partner with Poverty Alliance to ensure that individuals and families on low incomes are not left behind as Scotland transitions to renewable heating solutions in the fight against climate change.

Together, through the TARP - Taking Action on Rural Poverty project, we are dedicated to developing accessible information and practical resources that help people living in rural areas reduce their energy costs through home retrofits and the adoption of green technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels.

By working directly with communities, local councils, and Registered Social Landlords, we are:

  • Analysing the impact of retrofit and other energy interventions on household energy bills
  • Producing real-life case studies to highlight the positive difference these measures can make
  • Gathering feedback and lived experience to ensure support services are accessible, effective, and responsive to community needs

These efforts enable ALIenergy and our partners to encourage wider uptake of available support for home retrofits and clean heat transitions. We’re committed to helping people understand their new technologies and find the most beneficial energy tariffs, empowering everyone to participate in a greener, fairer future.

“People in Argyll and Bute need help to get the most out of the support on offer to switch to clean energy and keep their homes warm. We’re delighted to partner with the Poverty Alliance so we can get better information to the people who need it”  Lynda Mitchell, CEO ALIenergy
