Opportunities for Fishing Communities in Argyll

Renewable Energy: A PROJECT PART-FINANCED BY AXIS 4 OF THE EUROPEAN FISHERIES FUND 2007-2013 PROGRAMME

Introduction
The ‘Renewable Energy: Opportunities for Fishing Communities in Argyll’ project aims to help the active fishing communities of Argyll build capacity by developing qualifications, a skills base and working practices that will enable them to take advantage of new business and employment opportunities alongside fishing. It is expected that these opportunities will be primarily within the growing renewable energy industry due to the wealth of the regions wind, wave and tidal resources, possibly through provision of workboat services or marine survey work for example. Many of the skills may also enable fishermen to benefit from growth in other sectors, such as aquaculture, tourism, scientific research and monitoring.

As part of this project, we hope to be able to offer one or more of the courses detailed below in Argyll. It is likely that the courses will be held in early 2015, and it is hoped that the course fees will be fully subsidised, although this is dependent on uptake. If you are an active fishermen, and are keen to take advantage of this opportunity or to find out more, please register your interest on the form at the bottom of the page, or contact us :
