Schools

Through funding from Scottish Power Renewables, ALIenergy are able to deliver educational work in pre-school, primary and secondary schools throughout Argyll and Bute.

We provide a variety of different workshops; each one is tailored to the age and abilities of pupils. All of the workshops have been designed to deliver a wide variety of Curriculum for Excellence outcomes. The aim is to educate pupils about where energy comes from, the impact on the environment, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Whilst learning is a priority, we also find it important that the workshops are enjoyable! A range of classroom and field based sessions can be organised, including hands-on activities using a variety of props and equipment.

Alienergy has two part time Education Officers, Kirsty Jackson-Stark (Pre-school and Primary school) and Tony Philpin (Secondary school). All members of staff are fully disclosed by Disclosure Scotland and have considerable experience of providing educational services to children.

The eight CfE curriculum areas are covered by our workshops. Energy studies allow integrated work on climate change issues and renewable technologies with science investigations, thus developing practical technological skills and knowledge.

There is a high demand for workshops; therefore to avoid disappointment it is best to book well in advance.

ALIenergy also participate at ABREEF (Argyll and Bute Regional Environmental Education Forum) which is an annual event. The ABREEF venue changes each year to give different schools an opportunity to attend the environmental fair.
