Argyll Woodfuel Forum
Argyll Woodfuel Forum aims to encourage and facilitate the growth of the woodfuel sector in Argyll by providing networking opportunities and regular news updates. Two meetings a year are held at different venues around Argyll. Meetings are free of charge and include a series of short presentations, lunch and a relevant site visit. News, information and policy updates are circulated by email.

16th March 2016, Ardnamurchan
We visited Ardnamurchan Estate to learn about their various woodfuel projects: timber operations, woodchip drying and nine woodship boilers including the one at Ardnamurchan Distillery – Scotland’s newest, greenest, most westerly mainland distillery which opened in 2014.
31st March 2016, Lochgilphead
This meeting was held in the Council Chambers at the Argyll and Bute Council Headquarters at Kilmory Castle, where we enjoyed a diverse range of presentations and a lively discussion session before visiting the new woodchip boiler on site at Kilmory.
17th March 2015, Cairnbaan
We met at the Cairnbaan Hotel near Lochgilphead for a series of talks followed by a visit to a nearby FCS direct production site.
11th November 2014, Taynuilt
This meeting was held at the new Sports Pavilion in Taynuilt, with a site visit to the woodchip district heating retrofit at Bonawe House and adjacent holiday cottages.
4th March 2014, Craignure
This meeting was held at the Isle of Mull Hotel in Craignure, and included a visit to the pellet boiler onsite and the woodchip boiler at Mull and Iona Community Hospital.
8th October 2013, Oban
We gathered in the Royal Hotel in Oban for a range of presentations and discussion topics, and visited the newly installed pellet boiler at Combie Court Flats.
15th March 2013, Strachur
This meeting focussed on woodfuel and timber supply, with a range of speakers and an opportunity to visit the woodchip boiler on site at Strachur Village Hall.
21st November 2012, Dunbeg
The second meeting focussed on economic development and was held at the Scottish Association for Marine Science, and included a tour of the biomass boilers on site.
8th May 2012 Portavadie
The first meeting of the Argyll Woodfuel Forum was held at Portavadie Marina with a site visit to the wood chipping plant at the Wood Chip Shop, Argyll Forest Products.
